But this has turned into a tsunami. I’m talking about Aspen Mountain Press and its problems. As most of you know, AMP has struggled for a long time. Their difficulties include no royalties paid, no statements, website taken down for questionable reasons and the evacuation of key personnel.

My last royalty came in April of this year and no statements since the fall of 2010. There are many other contractual breaches suffered by most of the AMP authors. If you check their websites and blogs, you’ll learn all about their grievances. Mine specifically are books being sold by AMP that are out of contract which equates to pirating. I cannot abide such a practice. Writing is not a hobby for me, I rely on my royalties to pay my bills.

I have ten books with AMP. I reclaimed my rights on them all October 8, 2011, but have yet to receive the official letter or email from the AMP owner Sandra Hicks. And it doesn’t look like it will come any time soon. Before I sent my email to Sandra, I removed all the AMP books from my website and contacted all third party vendors to remove those same books from their sites as they were being sold illegally. All but Fictionwise and Mobipockets were happy to comply.

Today Sandra Hicks posted on the AMP authors loop that we should check the site and if our books were removed we would receive the much needed rights reversal letter. I checked and found no one can buy my books, but the covers are still posted. This means I am still in limbo with ten books that took a great deal of energy to write, perfect and promote and unable to move forward with a professional publisher.

Thank you for reading my little story.

Today is the last day of March and FRENCH TWIST is due to the ever patient Deborah Nemeth, Head Editor for Eternal Press. GULP!

FRENCH TWIST is the third book in the Naughty Ladies of Nice series. Claudette D’Laquois and Don Hobbs meet in Nice at her uncle’s chateau. Our couple flees to Paris when the Russian mob, drug trafficking and murder invade their lives.

This book is a new concept of my over active imagination. It’s been a challenge not to be obvious with the conclusion, but me thinks you all will be the judge of that.

Look for its release in June from Eternal Press, www.EternalPress.ca.

Now it’s back to writing that last chapter and a final proof read before FRENCH TWIST wings its way to Deb.

I’ll be back later this week with info on my next project. Until then…

Happy Writing!

Today is a fantastic day. Night Owl Romance has given FRANCINE ON FIRE 4 HEARTS! Below is the review.

Title: Francine on Fire
Author: Sloane Taylor
Genre: Erotica
Hearts: 4/5
Reviewer: Melinda
Date: 3/17/2008
To Read it Online:

Francine Daniels is tired of falling for men who pretend to love her then steal her life savings. Talk about bad luck. So when she meets Heicke Brewer she knows there’s trouble up ahead. Something about this hunky German is making her wonder why they are not in bed yet. He’s smart, clever, and obviously wealthy from the awesome car he drives but he is hiding something from her. All Francine knows is that if she does let him inside her heart she knows she would never be able to survive heartache. What started as a business trip has becoming a memorable trip for Francine. Can she just walk away from Heicke?

Heicke Brewer is not your usual German man but instead a man full of wealth, mystery and so much love he wants to share with Francine. After one disastrous marriage he is cautious about falling in love yet with Francine it comes so easy. She says she is not looking for a man yet each time they come together it is like an explosion of passion between them. Just when he thinks he has found the one his ex intrudes again. Can he make Francine see that he only wants her and not anyone else?

This is a first I have read from Sloane Taylor and have to say she sure knows passion. Between Francine and Heicke it was like figuring out where one began. These two are great yet it takes a lot of hard work on Heicke to make Francine see they are meant for each other. I loved it and other readers will like it as well.

Have a great day!
Sloane Taylor

That’s right. You’ve read it correctly.

The panic is due to a Friday, August 31, deadline for French TART which must be completed and on my editor’s desk at close of business. GULP!

Studs and “B” have been aces during these past two weeks. Each of them has offered suggestions, assistance, and tumblers of vodka to help me through it.

So what’s the problem, you ask? I’m happy to tell you in two words – writer’s block. Never thought there was such a thing until now. My mind has frozen and only allows crap to flow from my fingers as they fly across the keyboard.

The only time the ideas break through is when I’m driving. Figures now that gas is over $3.00 a gallon. So my plans for today entail my tape recorder and a road map. Wish me well. I need all the help I can get.

Have a wonderful Labor Day and stay safe.

I’ll be back next week with the dynamic Judith Rochelle, a prolific author and a fun person.

Until then…

Happy Writing!

I have six short rules that I post in the spiral notebook for every book I write. During the course of my writing and edits I refer to the list to be sure that I’m following my own rules.

1 – Remember the tone of the characters and the book.
If it’s light and funny – keep it light and funny.
You can’t change the characters personalities mid-book.

2 – Keep the sexual tension high.
If you’re writing romance and/or erotica the couple has to WANT.

3 – The hero/heroine can not be apart for more then one chapter.
During the separation they must think about each other.

4 – Every scene must include the five senses.
As a reminder they are See, Hear, Taste, Smell, Touch

5 – Don’t bog down the plot with essentials.
Dribble in the back story.

6 – Toward the end of the book everything must be tighter and move faster.
The reader knows the story’s coming to an end. They can tell by the number of pages left to read and they want it all fast and furious. This is the time to wrap up the loose ends and have a slam bang finish.

Work up your own set of rules for your writing. The most important thing is to be sure you follow them.

Happy writing!
Sloane
