Newsletters – 2007

February 2007

Issue three of the newsletter and I can’t believe how many people have signed on. We now email over 600 copies across the United States, Australia, Canada, and Europe. A huge “THANK YOU” to everyone for your interest and participation.

IT’S TIME TO CELEBRATE!

The winners of last issue’s “Name the Villainous” contest were:
MINDY and KELLI.

Mindy entered the first name of Regina and Kelli the surname of St. Claire.

It wasn’t easy to select the names from the 150 submitted. Thank you all for joining in the fun.

There are two new synopses, SHE WOULDN’T DIE and 4 DAYS, being submitted to Triskelion Publishing in early March. Both books will be 50,000 words and are erotic suspense. I’m anxious to begin writing them because the damned characters invade my brain at the weirdest times. Trust me, it has been embarrassing.

ON A PERSONAL NOTE

B, my daughter, is celebrating her thirtieth birthday this year. Yes folk, I was only five when she was born. LOL. To commemorate this auspicious occasion our families are heading to Orlando for a week to celebrate.

My granddaughters are about to burst from excitement. B is busy planning the daily outings while I’m researching restaurants. Studs doesn’t know it yet, but his airline ticket is his birthday present. So please, don’t tell him and spoil the surprise.

As the snow piles up outside my writing room window in Northeast Indiana, I can hardly wait to hug Mickey and enjoy sunlight.

ON WRITING

I’m still slogging away the last two books for the Magnificent Men of Munich series, FRANCINE ON FIRE and ISABELLA IGNITES, as well as the Feverish Interlude. My goal of 2,000 words a day somehow failed. I think I allowed myself too much holiday fun. So now it’s a short chain on my ankle with the other end hooked around the desk leg.

My wonderful editor Linda Wisdom is great. Hey, I can suck up when I have to. Lyn’s an excellent editor who is also a good woman and friend. She takes the time to make my work better. She also has also has more books published than years I’ve been on this earth.

On the third Monday of each month I’ll be interviewing a different author on my blog, https://www.sloanetaylor.com/blog/. The writers are talented, enthusiastic people who will give us insight of their lives and books. You are welcome to ask questions. Remember, these are writers and they’ll love to answer you.

CONTEST

It’s time for another Newsletter Readers Only Contest.

I’m searching for an unusual characteristic and career for the hero in 4 DAYS. His name is Frank Tanner. He’s 6’4” with black hair and blue eyes. The story is suspense with strong romantic elements.

This quarter we have two prizes of $15 Bath & Body Works gift cards. One will be given for the characteristic selected and the other for the career. Enter as many times as you like. The same person is eligible for both prizes. Please email your entries to sloanetaylor@comcast.net and type CONTEST on the subject line. May 2007

Spring is here and so is the fourth issue of the newsletter. I’m pleased that eighty-seven people have signed up since May 1, 2007. Welcome and thank all of you for being interested.

IT’S TIME TO CELEBRATE!

The winners of last issue’s “Unique Hero Career and Characteristics for Frank Tanner” contest are:

Jackie Wisherd for Career – Frank hunts down art thieves for an insurance company.

Michelle Bauer for Characteristics – Frank sculpts for a hobby.

Jackie and Michelle each won a $15.00 gift certificate for Bath and Body Works.

There were over 200 entries and the choices were phenomenal making it tough to decide. Thank you all for playing along.

Seven synopses were submitted to Triskelion Publishing. To date they have chosen TASTE THE DRAGON, a 20,000 Feverish Interlude that will set the reader on fire. The decision on any of the other books will be to me before the end of the month and I can’t wait!

ON A PERSONAL NOTE

Studs oldest daughter is getting married in a few weeks. She’s a beautiful woman with a great sense of humor and her fiancé is a doll who cooks better than me. We’re so excited and happy for them. I can’t wait to dance at their reception and see my own hero in a tuxedo.

ON WRITING

Triskelion Publishing is releasing LONNIE HEATS UP in June. Here’s the cover to peak your interest:

August 2007

Issue four of this newsletter has me pumped. We’re now at over 700 members! Welcome and thanks to all of you for being interested.

IT’S TIME TO CELEBRATE!

The winner of last issue’s Name Book Two of the Naughty Ladies of Nice contest is:

Tessa Bamberg – FRENCH DELIGHTS. We chose this title because it could refer to yummy desserts or even better sex.

Tessa won a free download of NOT WITHOUT RISK by Sarah Grimm.

There were several hundred entries which made the decision extremely difficult. Thank you all for playing along.

Aspen Mountain Press has offered me a contract for FRANCINE ON FIRE which I signed faster than a Nascar driver on the winning lap. The book is due to release September 28. There’ll be a lot of cheering and partying that night in Indiana. Check out Aspen Mountain’s website at aspenmountainpress.com. Four synopses are in the hands of their owners. I’m waiting to hear a favorable decision.

And there’s more!!

Eternal Press, out of Australia, has contracted me for the Naughty Ladies of Nice series. The first book, FRENCH TART, will release in September. The exact date hasn’t been set. They’re a brand new publisher with many talented authors. Check them out at eternalpress.com.au.

ON A PERSONAL NOTE

My oldest granddaughter turned ten in July. Kid, as I lovingly call her, has wanted to see Wicked since its début two years ago. Studs and I surprised her with matinee tickets, her first train ride, and dinner afterwards at Olive Garden. She loved every minute of the day. During the play, her chocolate eyes were the size of saucers. At least fifteen times that night she looked over and in a voice filled with awe said how much she loved it all. It was one of the best days of my life.

ON WRITING

Shadow Rose Publishing has requested TASTE OF THE DRAGON. I’m doing my best to get this completed and to them in quick time. Cruise on over to shadowrosepublishing.com for some excellent reads.

Now it’s time for me to set a serious writing schedule. Looks like my social life and Mah Jong playing has come to an end for the next six months.

CONTEST

It’s time for another Newsletter Members Only Contest.

I’m searching for the title of a new book I want to write. It takes place in New York at a five-star restaurant. The American heroine has graduated from the finest school on wines in France. She was the only female student so her training was tough. Now that she is a sommelier in a male dominated career her life is even harder. The book is ultra sexy.

The prize is a free download of CLUTCH ME IF YOU CAN by Rochelle Rae Hensler. It’s a fine book. Please email your entries to sloanetaylor@comcast.net and type CONTEST on the subject line. The drawing will be held September 16 and announced September 17 on my blog. Good luck!

December 2007

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!! Hard to believe it’s that time of year again. We’re still going strong at the close of our second year with over 800 newsletter members. Thank you all for joining and for supporting me.

IT’S TIME TO CELEBRATE!

Last issue’s contest was the title for a new book about a female sommelier.

There were over 100 entries which made if extremely difficult for Studs and The Kid to pick a winner. After much deliberation and hand gestures, they decided and I agreed.

The winning title is:
ANGEL’S SHARE submitted by TEOH!

Teoh explained that Angel’s Share is the portion of wine in the aging barrel that is lost to evaporation. Cool, huh?

Teoh won a free download of CLUTCH ME IF YOU CAN by Rochelle Rae Hensler.

Thank you all for playing. I appreciate your responses.

Next good news…

Aspen Mountain Press and I have signed a new contract for PHOTO OP! The release date isn’t set yet, but the book is due to them in January.

And there’s more!!

Eternal Press will release FRENCH DELIGHTS, book two in the Naughty Ladies of Nice series, December 7. We’ve signed the contracts for three more books, FRENCH TWIST, FRENCH KISS, and FRENCH TICKLER.

I’m happy to add both publishers have asked for more of my work. Right now we’re trying to decide what that will be.

ON A PERSONAL NOTE

Every Christmas Eve I have a formal sit-down dinner with twenty friends and relatives. We’ve made this our tradition for over thirty years. Yes, I did start it when I was ten!

For each gathering we select a different country and do our best to duplicate their holiday meal. This year the Scandinavian countries are the chosen theme since two friends are of that heritage.

Now, I’m in a quandary on what to serve and could use your help. Beyond herring, Acquavit and delicate pastries, I haven’t a clue what the Danes, Finns, Norse or Swedes lay on the table for their holiday feast. I’d be grateful for any information.

ON WRITING

I am entering the Amber Quill Press contest. This is held once a year and the only way to achieve a contract with them. Hundreds of authors submit, so wish me luck!

Red Roses for Authors Reviews is holding a contest for the best stories that they’ve reviewed this year. You guessed it, French TART is on the list. If you have the time, please check it out here. This is the first contest any of my published work has been in. I sure would appreciate your vote.

CONTEST

It’s time for another Newsletter Members Only Contest. This one has a little fire to it, and sure to be a delight for everyone who plays. Sorry, I couldn’t resist.

Purchase a copy of Francine on Fire at Aspen Mountain Press, for the low price of $4.99 and I’ll send you a free download of my brand-new book FRENCH Delights, the sequel to French TART.

If you already own a copy of Francine on Fire, you’re golden and will still receive your copy of FRENCH Delights.

Please email me at sloanetaylor@comcast.net on or before December 31. Type FOF on the subject line and attach your copy of Francine on Fire. The elves here will immediately send off your free download.

Francine on Fire makes a nice gift when it’s printed out then tucked into a file folder!
