Newsletters – 2009

February 2009

Just a few weeks until spring is officially here! My mind is in plant mode and I’m ready to scour the nurseries for this year’s victims. This season we want to concentrate on creating an herb garden.

IT’S TIME TO CELEBRATE!

BELINDA chose TEDDI TURNS ON
CATHERINE chose FRENCH TWIST
DAVE chose FRENCH TICKLER
LINDSEY chose PHOTO OP
MARCY chose FRENCH TART
RHONDA chose TEDDI TURNS ON
SHERRY chose FRENCH TWIST

Next good news…

I am ecstatic to announce AMBER QUILL PRESS has offered me a writing contract for my latest work CZECH MATE, a sexy little number that takes place in Prague. The contracts are signed, an editor is assigned and a tentative release is scheduled for this May.

I am grateful to Beth Anderson, Melissa Bradley, and Erica Dananay for recommending me and their tremendous help to allow my writing career to make this amazing leap.

And there’s more!!!

GhostWriter Literary Reviews gave FRENCH TICKLER, book five in the Naughty Ladies of Nice series 4 STARS.

Here’s the short version:

“The story line quickly moved along with humor, lust and excitement. I enjoyed the fact that the author created a plot to the storyline that made the book a great page-turner.”

ON A PERSONAL NOTE

Studs and I have decided it is time we will drag our no longer svelte bodies back into shape.

I refuse to go on a diet. Been there, done that, and gained the weight back plus more. Instead we are changing our eating habits. No more bread three times a day accompanied by potatoes and enough mayo to turn anyone’s stomach. Fish is now a weekly dinner along with plenty of chicken and salads.

Each morning I do a few exercises. Have to start small so I don’t stroke out.

Although we haven’t lost anything worth writing about, we both feel better and have tons more energy. This is a good thing!

ON WRITING

The Melt the Ice series is underway with FINNISH FANTASIES. The book is one-third completed with lead characters Kate Adams and Rurik Jaakko having too much fun romping through Finland’s countryside. My goal is to complete this book and submit by April 14.

The next book will be SWEATY IN SWEDEN. Does make the mind boggle, doesn’t it. 🙂

May 2009

We have started our garden! The plot is 16′ x 3′ and seems to grow with every shovel of cow manure we spread. The gardening clerks at Allen Landscaping have become my new best friends and probably cringe every time they see me. They are a wealth of info on plants and flowers, and I am grateful.

Next good news…

AMBER QUILL PRESS is releasing CZECH MATE May 24. Here’s a short blurb to tease you:

Life isn’t easy for aspiring interior designer Lacey Blake when she finds herself stranded in Prague dressed like a dolled up hooker for her fetish minded, soon to be ex, boyfriend. The cash strapped American, boasting a feather boa and stilettos that would make a dominatrix sob, is saved by an intriguing offer from a staid giant in a sleek Armani suit. It doesn’t take long to convince herself there’s nothing like a sex fest to get the most out of a free vacation.

Dragan Petrovic is determined his 5-star hotel will retain its unblemished reputation and no prostitute will kickoff her career in his lobby. But one look into her eyes and he knows there is more to her than a micro mini and a push up bra. The urge to protect her drives him to madness when he suggests an unusual scheme that stirs up deep desires and alters their lives forever.

Lacey is hot and ready for action when she accepts Dragon’s offer and takes the matter in hand to relieve the sexual tension between them.

And there’s more!!!

Love Romances and More Reviews gave FRANCINE ON FIRE 4 HEARTS! Below is a snippet followed by the link for the complete review.

I love the way this author teases the reader with flashes of wit, lust and comedy. FRANCINE ON FIRE is a story that had me chuckling one minute and the next wondering if I should call honey home for some serious tension release.

The heat simmers but misunderstandings and tempers flair when things get mixed up between Francine and Heicke. Ms. Taylor delves into Germany again and reintroduces two delightful characters from Lonnie Heats Up and Teddi Turns On. With the right amount of wit, charm and comedy, she introduces you to the real Francine and Heicke, warts and all. This is an author that you know loves her spunky American women and those hot European men they fall for. I definitely couldn’t put it down as I laughed, smiled and lusted over Francine and Heicke’s adventures and I was rooting for these two to get over their troubles to find what they had was so very rare and lovely.

If you enjoy a fast paced story with tight writing that weaves a spell around you and filled with characters that seem to steal your heart, then grab Ms. Taylor’s Magnificent Men of Munich Series and FRANCINE ON FIRE. I know I am going to read this one again and hope you do too!

Robert Appleton, British science fiction writer, is the owner of Mercurial Times, has done an unrequested review of FRENCH KISS. Stepping out of his usual reading realm, below is a snippet of what Robert had to say.

Witty and crackling with sass, FRENCH KISS, the fourth novelette in Sloane Taylor’s Naughty Ladies of Nice series, is a standalone sexy short that promises and delivers a good time.

American sass meets provincial French in this lively romance, by turns sweet and sea-salty. I had a great time with this book. I don’t normally read erotic romances, but Ms. Taylor’s vibrant style isn’t exclusive to the sex scenes, as it tends to be for some authors in this genre. Here she imbues the characters, scene setting and dialogue with quirky life all their own. Plus, the lovemaking is seriously hot.

My advice? Kick back and let the fizzy swells of FRENCH KISS wash over you. This is one addictive series. Next up for me, FRENCH TWIST…

Mercurial Times is a site that presents Robert’s news and views. 2009 is his second year in the rollercoaster world of e-publishing. Be sure to visit his author homepage. The man is a genius.

ON A PERSONAL NOTE

You may remember my 11 year old granddaughter is a dancer. Her dance team has entered two competitions this year. At the first one, the girls won gold for their trio number. At the second, they again won gold for their trio and gold for their lyrical dance. Talk about your proud grandma!

Studs’ is puffing his chest, too. His 6 year old grandson plays pitch baseball in a league. His team is the Pirates. This kid is very talented, learns quickly, and is a true team player. Last game, he hit the ball each pitch, made bases, and scored runs. YAY, PIRATES!!

ON WRITING

I’m late in completing FINNISH FANTASIES, book one in the Melt the Ice series. The lead characters, Kate Adams and Rurik Jaakko, decided what should have been 15,000 – 20,000 word book just wasn’t enough space for them to do all they wanted. Pushy characters now have me at 25,000 words and are finally in agreement we can end their wild affair soon.

Two friends from Finland, Tessa Bamberg and Eva Silkka have been invaluable with advice and translations. Thank you both for all the help.

August 2009

Our garden is doing better than us city folk expected. We’re inundated with green beans, onions, radishes and tomatoes to our friends eating pleasure. My granddaughters love to snap off broccoli heads from the plant and pop them into their mouths. Unfortunately, the cabbage and brussel sprouts had to be tossed due to cabbage worms. Ick!

Next good news…

AMBER QUILL PRESS – AMBER HEAT is releasing FINNISH FANTASIES September 13. Here’s a short unedited blurb to tease you:

Being Maid of Honor in Finland over Midsummer’s Eve is supposed to be fun, but for jingle writer Kate Adams it’s a nightmare. Things go from bad to worse when her high-priced rental car dies on an endless ribbon of bone-dry country road. Help arrives in the form of a delicious looking blue-collar local who just might make it all worthwhile.

Rurik Jaacko knows better than to stop for the princess perched on the hood of a Mercedes. Hot women and expensive cars are trouble, but he’s a sucker for any damsel in distress. The last thing he expects is to play bellhop to the sensual American, and love every sizzling moment.

A rustic pig farm and a friend who isn’t combine with deception to create the backdrop for earthy passion and international fraud.

And there’s more!!

I am over the moon and wanted to share with you that Maija from Fallen Angels Reviews awarded 5 ANGELS to CZECH MATE!

Below is a snippet, but you can read the complete review here:

“I laughed all the way through Czech Mate – Lacey’s sense of humour is pithy and hilarious. The sex scenes are scorching hot and there’s a real joy to the whole story, as if Sloane Taylor had a riot of a time writing it. I loved Lacey’s direct, ballsy attitude and the way she embraced her sexuality. There’s another side to the story, too – the scene where they share the truth about their pasts is very well done and believable. If you’re looking for a fun, raunchy read with a heart to it, Czech Mate is for you.”

-Reviewed by: Maija
Rating: 5 Fallen Angels

I’m blown away by another excellent review. Roni from Romance Book Scene reviewed CZECH MATE and gave it their highest count – 5 HEARTS!

Below is a snippet, but you can read the complete review here:

“Looking for a good book that will keep you laughing with a heroine who knows how to laugh at herself even when times are down, than Czech Mate is the choice for you. Lacey has a great bold, sense of humor and there were times when I out right laughed out loud through this book. The sex scenes are hot and the couple in the story are perfect for one another. This novella is a wonderful quick read.”

Studs’ son got married August 8 to the nicest young woman anyone would want for a daughter-in-law. They make a great couple and honestly love one another. The new bride just completed her medical technician courses and is ready to set out in the world. We wish them the very best for their bright future.

CONTEST

It’s time for another Newsletter Members Only Contest. We’re still going easy. This time there will be 2 winners. The prize is a free download, VIET MAN HOLIDAY written by Australia author Bruce Cooke.

Here’s Bruce’s bio:

“I am a retired Technical and Further Education teacher and have been writing for nineteen years. After completing several creative writing courses, I had three short stories published and two read over community radio in Queensland. I wrote the initial script for the C.S. Lewis stage musical The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe that ran successfully in all the large Australian cities for three years ago. I have written over fifteen novels and am under contract to have three more published. I also won a poetry competition. I submitted a poem to the Australian War Memorial and the local branch of the Returned Soldiers League, dedicating the efforts of veterans during the New Guinea campaign of the Second World War, which was accepted by both. The poem was printed and framed and holds a place in the display cabinet of the RSL club in my hometown. I will be listed in the next newsletter of the Knowledge Tree, the official newsletter of Lifestyle Learning, a writing college in Australia. This and my other accomplishments are seen as a success for the courses they run Australia wide.”

October 2009

Fall is here and so is garden cleanup time which is so easy I can’t believe it. Rip out the old and give it to Studs’ son-in-law, John, for his compost pile. Life’s good!

We’re thinking ahead for next spring and raring to go. John grew potatoes for the first time and explained his method. After a long powwow, we’ve decided to turn the south side of the house into another garden. Now if we could only get rid of the chipmunks that thought our tomato plants were just for them. Anyone have a recommendation?

ASPEN MOUNTAIN PRESS is releasing ISABELLA IGNITS this fall. Here’s a short unedited blurb to tease you:

Isabella Carrington has never wanted for anything her entire pampered life. So what does a woman who has it all do for fun? Come…take a peek into the keyhole of Isabella’s closed bedroom door.

As a sexual submissive, Rhineholdt Hoffman never wanted to play the dominant, until his fantasy woman appears and shakes his world. To win her, he must set in motion a game that shocks even him.

And there’s more!!

Robert Appleton, an exciting British author and friend, asked me to co-author a science fiction novel CLAIRE DE LUNE. Rob’s a tough task master, but I must admit I love his sense of humor and dedication. If you’d like to checkout some of his work click here. We’re both over the moon that AMBER QUILL PRESS wants the book as soon as possible!

ON A PERSONAL NOTE

This month Studs’ and I are celebrating our fifth anniversary of non-marriage. Odd way to phrase it, but we agreed we were too old for boyfriend and girlfriend and significant other didn’t seem to fit. When we meet new people we introduce ourselves as non-husband and non-wife. The surprised expressions are well worth the strange titles!

ON WRITING

SULTRY SWEDEN, book two in the Melt the Ice series, is due to Amber Quill Press – Amber Heat October 26. It’s coming along nicely, thanks to my marvelous critique partners.
