Good morning, Tami, welcome back. Let’s learn more about you as an author.
ST: Who or what encouraged you to write erotica?
TD: I have to laugh at this question. My publishing house has given my book’s heat level a two. One being the lowest and five being the highest.
ST: Yes, but UNDER A VIKING MOON is very sensual with excellent sexual tension. So Tami, where do you get the ideas for your novels?
TD: Back to my dreams. For some reason, I seem to dream in plots and story lines.
ST: How do you research your books?
TD: Books and online. I can get lost in the research if I let myself. Even though I write fiction, I like the foundation of my stories to be based on as much fact as I can come up with. I learned so much about Vikings while writing UAVM and I tried to put as many truthful customs and such as I could into my book without making it sound like a history lesson.
ST: Who is your support group?
TD: Triskelion Publishing has several on line support groups. My fellow authors freely give encouragement and support to one another. I also belong to Celtic Hearts Romance Writers, also an amazing, supportive group. And I have two ladies, Paula from Fresno CA and Carole from Atlanta Georgia who have been with me from the beginning. We meet at an on line critique group. They each understand my dyslexia and are willing to check and recheck my chapters for clarity, all the while never taking away from my voice or thoughts. They are great cheerleaders.

Hmm, speaking of erotica and research. LOL, what books do you use for research, or magazines? I’ve found interesting stories in Cosmo about sexuality. Of course, Playboy does nothing for me, but the articles are pretty good.

Also, what do yout hubby and daughters think of you writing erotica? Do you get teased about it?

On January 24th, 2007 at 9:07 pmHi Beth, permanent makeup has a technical, scientific name that I could not spell to save my life, but the layman would call it a tattoo. My eyebrows and eye liner and lips have it, yes, it was terrifying, (and in case your wondering, very painful) and I looked into what salon I would have do it very carefully, making sure that the lady doing it had a valid license to do such work. It is very expensive, and believe me, when shopping for permanent makeup, you do not go ‘bargain hunting.’ But IMHO, it was worth every dime. I have not had to put on make up in over two years now. I can be as sick as a dog or just crawl out of bed and still look put together—it’s really cool, and when you think about how expensive make up itself is, I have saved a bundle in the long run.
As for erotica, I only have three separate scenes (one in the beginning, and two closer to the end) in my book where my h/h have any kind of physical contact. I am more comfortable writing tension and the emotional part of the act rather than the detailed physical part. I would never even try to write over the two that I am at now, as a matter of fact, if it were not for Triskelion asking me to ‘heat it up a bit’ I don’t think Under A Viking Moon would have even hit a two on the heat scale.
