Live with Clare London

April 19, 2010 | Friends

This week we feature multi-published Clare London, an awesome writer you’ll want to read over and over again.

Clare’s forte is M/M. Here’s her bio which explains why:

Clare took the pen name London from the city where she lives, loves, and writes. A lone, brave female in a frenetic, testosterone-fueled family home, she juggles her writing with the weekly wash and waiting for the far distant day when she can afford to give up her day job as an accountant. She’s written in many genres and across many settings, with novels and short stories published both online and in print. She says she likes variety in her writing while friends say she’s just fickle, but as long as both theories spawn good fiction, she’s happy. Most of her work features male/male romance and drama with a healthy serving of physical passion, as she enjoys both reading and writing about strong, sympathetic and sexy characters.

Clare currently has several novels sulking at that tricky chapter 3 stage and plenty of other projects in mind . . . she just has to find out where she left them in her frenetic, all-male family home.

All the details and free fiction are available at her website. Visit her today and say hello! For more info on Clare and other talented authors, check out her blog.

Clare’s work has won many awards with the most recent being from Love Romances Cafe for Best GLBT Author and Best Contemporary Book: True Colors.

Also The Rainbow Awards on Elisa Rolle’s blog, TRUE COLORS was nominated as one of the Jury’s Choice. It didn’t win, but it’s a lovely button. 🙂

Now it’s time to show you what all the praise is about.

BLURB:
From the very first, Zeke Roswell and Miles Winter are like oil and water. After a tragic fire claimed his brother’s life, Zeke’s personal and professional life spiraled out of control, and now he has no choice but to sell his gallery to cover his debts. Enter successful entrepreneur Miles, who buys it and plans to make a commercial success out of Zeke’s failure.

Their initial hostility stands no chance against the strong passion that ambushes them. Zeke’s talent and lust for life intoxicate Miles, and Zeke finds Miles’s self-assurance and determination equally fascinating. But it’s not until an unsolved mystery of violence and stolen sketches threatens to sabotage any chance at happiness that Miles and Zeke realize they have a chance at all.

EXCERPT:
Miles didn’t know what made him start on up the stairs without calling or knocking.
When he reached the top, he looked across the landing, searching for Zeke. The door to the studio was wide open and he could see inside. There was a table set up in there now, and a couple of display stands, though there were no pictures or plans in view. The overhead light was off, and the only light in the room was from a thick church candle, anchored on a china plate and balanced rather precariously on the edge of the table. There were two coffee mugs there as well, and another empty plate.

Miles took a tentative step forward and peered further in. Over by the window, he saw Zeke with his back to him, one arm braced against the wall, facing out toward the city view. His body was silhouetted against the darkening sky outside by the single, flickering flame of the candle. His hair was tied back this evening, a short but vivid trail of dark curls against a white T-shirt that was too short, as usual; it rode up around his midriff. He wore those damned sweat shorts, though probably another pair, but the same style. Miles stared at the gap of fresh skin between shirt and shorts; followed the lines of muscles down the back of Zeke’s thighs; gazed at the slight glimmer of sweat in the hollow behind his knees, as it caught what little light there was.
His heartbeat stuttered and re-settled to its regular rhythm.

Almost immediately afterward, he noticed the other pair of legs. Another person stood in front of Zeke, largely hidden by him. The four limbs were closely pressed together and there was the shadow of fingertips at Zeke’s waist. Miles realized the other person must be extremely close, because he couldn’t see a separate face, couldn’t see easily which arm might be which.

With a wash of cold shock, he also realized how stupid he was, for the pair of them were obviously kissing. Zeke’s head dipped against the girl’s and her other hand gripped softly behind his neck, tangling into his hair, tugging him further against her. Miles saw the muscles of Zeke’s shoulders tensing as he pressed her body up against the wall more tightly, pushing his chest against her, his mouth so obviously working on hers.
Miles heard a soft gasp; a moan swallowed by another eager mouth.

Zeke’s free arm was hugged in front of his body, the hand hidden from view. The girl’s legs were parted against his hips. Miles imagined him flipping open the button of her jeans; he had visions of Zeke sliding his long, supple fingers down into her clothes; of touching her curls; of stroking parts that were hot and sweaty, and sensitive to every finger’s touch….

His shock became even colder as he watched the hand on Zeke’s waist slip down to his ass, and squeeze him confidently through the sweat fabric. Miles saw the muscles of Zeke’s shoulders shiver with pleasure, and his back arch under the touch. But there was something about the darkly tanned skin of the companion’s bare arm, seen clearly for the first time—something that jarred. There were strong tendons stretching to grasp at Zeke’s body, and soft hairs glinting in the evening glow.

It was a masculine hand; a young man’s hand. Miles had assumed it was a girl, but it was male.

He knew he had to leave. He had invaded Zeke’s privacy. Carter had tried to tell him Zeke was busy; he just hadn’t realized with what. He felt sick, and wondered briefly why a genuine error should make him feel so unstable. He wasn’t aware of making any noise as he turned to go back downstairs, but out of the corner of his eye he saw the figures straighten up and turn in his direction.

“Miles?” It was Zeke’s voice. Miles cursed every God he’d ever read about, and paused, his hand on the doorframe.

“Hold up, Miles. We’re just finished here, you know? Marco’s just going. Aren’t you, man?”

Miles stood, transfixed, staring at somewhere between the stairwell and the floor, as he heard the disgruntled mumbles from Zeke’s companion, and Zeke’s own careless laugh. “Not now, Marc baby. Yeah, I know. But first it was Carter calling, and now it’s my boss. I don’t have the time tonight. I’ll call you. Come on, man….”

Some rustling clothes; Miles heard a zipper being wrenched up. There was a jolt to his elbow, and a young, dark-haired man pushed past him, none too gently. Miles had the brief impression of a scowling, Mediterranean-cast face, and a body that obviously worked out; then Marco was gone, lumbering down the stairs in a rather unattractive sulk.

“Christ, don’t you ever knock?” growled Zeke. He came to stand next to Miles with a wry smile on his face. His cheeks were flushed; his lips plump and moist. “Guess that was useful for me, though. He’s a little too clingy for my liking.”

“I interrupted you… both. I’m sorry. I thought with Carter gone, you were free.”

“You met Carter?” Zeke looked at Miles with interest. “Good. I told him some stuff about you. Probably best he sees you for real, or I may be blackening your name needlessly, eh?” He laughed, easily enough.

Miles leaned a little away from him. He hated him, briefly, suddenly, and had never known such a reaction in himself. How could Zeke be so cool after such embarrassment? How could he just abandon the sensual anticipation of that make-out session, and dismiss his lover so swiftly? How could he chat so calmly to Miles about other people entirely; how could he laugh as if nothing had happened there? Miles wished he could wipe his own embarrassment from his mind—the strange, churning feelings inside his stomach that he was sure were showing on his face. He’d never known such discomfort.

Nor had he ever felt such desire. A desire that wracked his gut, demanding that he be where that young man had been, just moments before: wrapped around Zeke Roswell, with Zeke’s tongue in his mouth, and Zeke’s hand down the front of his pants.

BLURB:
Dylan admits it himself, he’s a relentlessly single man in a small town, consoled only by being a good teacher and a devoted nephew to his Great-Aunts.

When the Aunts take a hand in matchmaking him with Josie, the girl along the street, Dylan doesn’t tell them what kind of soul-mate he’s really looking for – and the fact that he’s already found the man in question, Josie’s brother Neal. But a secret affair can’t go on for ever, can it? Finally faced with a heart-wrenching decision, when his chance at love seems to be moving even farther out of his reach, maybe it’s time for Dylan to own up to what he wants – and what kind of man he really is.

EXCERPT:
The door opened abruptly. For a few seconds, I just stared. My heart was hammering, fierce as anything. But the smile that greeted me was broad and mischievous and full of a welcoming love for life. It was also very familiar. Dark, strong features. With a mental nod to the Aunts, I stepped inside. My sight began to adjust to the change, the hallway furniture throwing elongated shadows across the pale, waning sunlight, and then the front door slammed behind me as if cutting me off from the life outside…
And I was plunged into another one.

I never had a chance to speak. The bouquet was snatched from my hands and flung onto the low table by the door. I was pushed back against the wall and a hard, flat chest pressed against mine, hot breath panting in my ear, broad hands reaching to push my jacket off my shoulders. Strong hands. Impatient.

“Fuck.” The voice was harsh and masculine. A man’s face brushed against mine, the jawline rough with a half-day’s stubble, the eyes gazing hungrily at me. “You’re early! I thought we said tomorrow.”

I laughed aloud, partly from protest, partly from the sheer joy of the touch. He was a few inches taller than I was, his body stocky, his shoulders broad. As he opened his arms to wrap them around me, the faded fabric of his shirt stretched tight across his chest, accentuating the sinewy planes of his torso.
“The Aunts insisted I come over today. I didn’t know when you were planning to arrive. If you were. Look, I can go…”

“Don’t you fucking dare!” he snapped, but his eyes were dancing with pleasure, not anger. The hallway smelled of furniture polish and the lingering aroma of warm toast. Up close, I could also smell strong coffee on his breath, but then he always drank too much of it, a symptom of his commitment to ridiculously long hours of writing and traveling. His face nuzzled into my neck, his skin warm, his thick curls uncombed and brushing his shoulders, just the way I liked it. I ran my fingers into it, tangling tightly, tugging back his head. Hard, just the way he liked it.

“Neal.” I groaned. His neck was taut, the Adam’s apple flexing as he swallowed. My lips tingled with the need to kiss it—to kiss him. “Thank God you’re here.”

He shook himself free of my grip, though I’d never intended it to hold him back. “Idiot. Of course I’m here.” He laughed raggedly, perhaps still impatient with me. He was panting slightly and couldn’t seem to keep his hands off me, grabbing, stroking, tugging at the soft fabric of my single decent shirt. A button slipped open and his fingers slid in against my bare skin, catching one of the swollen nubs of my nipples underneath and twisting it. It was painful—it was impossibly exciting. “Every damned month, right?” His voice was low and hoarse, even though we couldn’t be overheard. “If it’s humanly possible—wherever the hell I am—I’ll get here. I don’t want to miss it. Miss this. You know I don’t.”

That wasn’t entirely true. I hoped and I prayed—but I never really knew. And, God help me, I certainly never expected. But did I want to discuss that now? My fingers clumsy with excitement, I helped him open the remaining buttons of my shirt and I shrugged out of it. He took a shaky step back, one of his hands still gripping my wrist. His wild gaze sent goose bumps across my flesh. When he licked his lips, my whole skin shivered with anticipation.

“Dylan.” His eyes widened with eagerness. “Look at you. Christ.”

I started to laugh from nervousness and I swallowed it quickly. “You’re the idiot. I’m not… Well, I haven’t been to the gym much this month, you know…”

He laughed and let go of me. I watched him peel his shirt up over his head, my gaze fixed on the tensing muscles of his stomach. He was well toned for a man whose job was usually associated with long hours at a computer screen. The broad shoulders ran into a slender, wiry body. Plenty of strength there, I knew, the result of his hectic lifestyle and his personal enthusiasm in following a story physically as well as literally, taking him to all parts of the world. Dammit, he didn’t need a budget gym membership like some of us.

“Dylan,” he whispered. He was smiling, watching me watching him. He lifted a hand to his chest, teasing at one of his nipples, and I heard him suck in a short, fierce breath. I shuddered, instinct taking control of me. Dark hairs dusted across the skin of his pecs, then ran in a trail all the way down the center of his torso to his navel. And below. The skin was slightly tanned but there was a stretch of pale skin just showing under the waistband of his sweats. Long legs and strong feet, bare feet. I knew there’d be nothing else on under the sweats, and I was suddenly breathless.

The Private Side of Raine Delight

April 14, 2010 | Friends

There’s more to intriguing paranormal author Raine Delight than “Scorching Hot Romance……Between the Covers!”, although I must say that’s a terrific part. Raine’s seldom publicized talent is that she is an excellent cook with a cache of recipes to keep Studs happy every day of the year.

Here’s one of Raine’s quick recipes that’s easy to do and cheap. 🙂

HAMBURGER GRAVY

2 lb. ground beef
1 onion chopped
1 green pepper chopped
2 cans (or 1 large jar) Beef Gravy (or to mix it up-Mushroom Gravy)
Frozen vegetables, any variety
Your favorite spices to season

Over medium-low/medium-high heat saute onions, green peppers and hamburger together until meat is browned and other ingredients are tender. Drain the fat and put back on stove.

Add frozen vegetables and gravy to hamburger mixture. Simmer on low until heated through and hot.

Serve over buttered hot noodles, mashed potatoes or rice with crusty bread and a salad.

For dessert-Angel food cake with strawberries.

While your tasty dinner is simmering, kick back with a glass of wine and dig into Raine’s stand alone title:

BLURB:
Can destiny lead a Fae Prince to the one woman who can complete him mind, body and soul?

Prince Aryan has searched his world for the one woman that is his destined mate but has just about given up when he is led to the human world. Even though it is forbidden to fall in love with a human, he finds Skye Andrews completely delectable and wonders if she is his chosen love.

Skye Andrews has had it with men. After another disastrous date, her aunt gives her a love potion to try. With a magic spell and a mysterious face haunting her waking days, will Skye find the love she is looking for?

EXCERPT (PG-13):
Skye puttered around the bedroom, listening to the music box in the egg. She tried to relax but it was as if her body knew something or someone was coming to claim her, body and soul. She tried to puzzle out how she knew someone important was coming. It was like when she’d seen the face in the window at her aunt’s; she’d known he was her true love.

Silly woman. That was the stuff dreams and Disney movies were made of, not real life.

In a darkened corner of her room, a glowing light caught her attention. She watched as a stunning man magically appeared. Breathtakingly gorgeous, he exuded sex appeal to the core. Appreciation mingled with desire. He stood almost six feet tall, with a lean, whipcord body which made her feel faint with uncontrolled longing. His silvery blond hair was pulled back, and his eyes were the jade green of ancient oriental carvings. He was the most sensual man she’d ever beheld. High chiseled cheekbones, a strong chin with a dimple winking at her when he smiled. With a gasp, she recognized the face as the one she saw in her aunt’s window. It couldn’t be him. Was he her true love like the legend she was told by the shopkeeper?

When she finally allowed her gaze to move past the full lips which seemed to call to her, she drifted lower and saw strength in his muscular body. It was as if she’d watched a god come to life. She was a moth drawn to that ever dangerous flame; as her body couldn’t resist him. Shimmering blue pants seemed to have molded themselves onto his muscular legs.

Her eyes widened when she saw the bulge in his trousers. A blush heated her cheeks and she found herself wondering what his ass would look like out of those pants. Quirking an appreciative smile, she continued to scrutinize him, moving her gaze back to his face.

BLURB:
A werewolf claims his mate in Devon Falls.

Rodrick Dracon is the twin heir to the Dragon Inn. When he finds himself longing for a mate after being footloose and fancy free, he finds himself drawn to the most obnoxious, brassy woman he has ever met: Jaxon Sinclair. She is the one woman who doesn’t melt when he goes by or hangs on his every word. She is just aggravating and down right sexy as sin! Soon the sparks fly, passion goes into boiling and Halloween approaches. Can a wolf shifter get this woman to heel before the full moon? Or can Jax turn the tables on this ladies man and tame the wolf?

EXCERPT:
Jax’s fingers traced the outline of his hard cock as she tried to still her raged breath. She could still feel the way his lips captured hers and she wanted more. Her nipples ached and her pussy was dripping wet, going down her thighs. She didn’t know what to do or say but she knew she wanted more of him and she wanted Rod naked very soon if he kept this up.

“I…” Jax tried to talk but her throat was dry and her breath kept hitching every time he swirled that tongue of his on her ear lobe and then nipped it. She swallowed hard as she tried to speak, though if he kept twirling his tongue along her ear lobe, she was going to do something drastic very soon. All this tension was making her stomach clench and her breasts felt achy from wanting to be touched.

His body felt like it was cast from granite, hard and unyielding though each time she traced her fingers along the hard ridge in his jeans, she heard him groan. Jax debated if she should let this go further when all thought of caution went right out the window as he nibbled on that one particular spot between her shoulder and neck. It was like a time bomb exploded inside her. He made her feel like she was going to combust. She couldn’t stop the way her body melted into his or the moan that seemed to come from deep inside her. She wanted more and she was going to get it, regardless of the consequences.

Jax grabbed his t-shirt with both hands and yanked it over his head. The pale skin gleamed in the light and she drooled over the way his abs rippled. She slid her hands across his chest, his nipples pointed out when she teased them with her fingernails. With just his jeans on and no shirt, he looked like a wild god, ready for his sacrifice, and Jax was more than willing to sacrifice her to him. If he didn’t get naked soon, she was going to go up in flames, Jax thought as she nipped his lips with her teeth. Hearing his breath hitch each time she traced a path around his navel had her anxious to explore even more. Flipping the top button of his jeans, she teased Rodrick as she looked at him with her eyes at half mast, passion glazing in them. She slid her fingernail across his nipple, causing him to tighten his grip on her waist. Slowly, she slid the zipper down and her breath hitched as she saw his cock straining to get free. He was utterly naked under the jeans and Jax was about to melt as her eyes took it in. His cock was glorious as she licked her lips in anticipation for a taste. Her panties were so drenched that her juices were sliding down her legs, coating the inside of her thighs.

BLURB:
The mistakes of the past collide explosively in Devon Falls.
Damien Dracon is back in Devon Falls, and he is about to woo the one lady he left three years ago. Family secrets and youthful pride forced him to give up the one good thing in his life: the love of Alicia Stevens. What he doesn’t expect is that Alicia has a secret of her own, and it may just tear them apart. Can two former lovers find it in themselves to forgive one another and let love grow between them? Or will past secrets haunt them and tear them apart? This 4th of July is about to get explosive in Devon Falls.

EXCERPT:
He strode down the sidewalk. The window of the Dew Drop glowed softly, and a shadow walked past the window. He jogged lightly across the street and almost fell through the glass pane at the sight of Alicia, weaving her way around the cases. He watched the way she moved, all fluid-like and with a grace that he could never find, no matter how hard he tried, in other women. Her reddish blonde hair was in a loose ponytail that he suddenly itched to take down. His eyes widened when her lush, voluptuous body had him aching to see her in all its natural glory. Hers was the most desirable body he had ever seen. The blood rushed to his cock straining the front of his jeans.

Whistling softly, he never thought she would grow up to be so voluptuous and sexy! It was quite an eye opener, especially when she bent over to clean the case of pastries and her jeans tightened around her rounded ass. Groaning at the vision in front of him, his blood burning with a need to possess; Damien tried to still his racing lust. My god, she is gorgeous and sexy. She’s like a 50’s screen bombshell, all rounded curves and long legs. What man wouldn’t be lucky to have her as a mate and mother of his children?

Watching her dance to a tune only she could hear brought Damien’s attention to the way she moved. She moved like a ballerina, yet was more graceful to his thinking, and as he watched her dance around the cases and tables, he found himself longing to dance with her. Thinking how her body would curve around his made him shudder with a hot need that had him rock hard and aching for something that he hoped he could experience again — if she didn’t kick him in the balls first and then toss him out the door.

When It’s Raine’s, It’s HOT

April 12, 2010 | Friends

Raine Delight is a pseudonym of a self professed book lover and after one too many TSTL characters, decided to see if she could write something a little better. Many drafts later, the Devon Falls series came to fruition. Originally it was to be one book but somehow ended up to four with a fifth and sixth being planned for release sometime in 2010.

Here’s a little from Raine: I write a paranormal contemporary series for Aspen Mountain Press and am also branching out to other genres as I continue to listen to the voices in my head. My muse is a male nut who likes to leave me to go sip Mai Tais on the beach and leave me foundering for words; though eventually he takes pity on me and gets my words flowing and characters start settling down.

On a personal note, I live with my own boytoy and two kids. I love Johnny Depp movies and enjoy hiking, reading and watching movies with my family.

Check out my book pages to see what is going on with me here.

Here are two teasers from the Devon Falls series to tempt you.

BLURB:
A candy maker is set up by her business partner at a charity animal auction.

With the help of a charity fundraiser, Jenna sets her friend, Raven, up to find Mr. Perfect. Raven though, has found Mr. Perfect…in her dreams. Now, if she could only find the sexy man in real life.

EXCERPT (ADULT):

He waited until she pointed to the door leading out of the kitchen. Raven couldn’t talk, much less breath as she pointed him to her bedroom. It was never like this with anyone else and she couldn’t believe how electrified she felt! She sighed in delight as his arms tightened at the sight of her bedroom…all ready for some serious love play, with a love swing in one corner and the silk scarves on her bed in addition to the mirror right behind the headboard. She heard the door slam shut with ra rousing bang!
She looked at her bedroom with new eyes; instinctively she knew she was waiting for this man in her heart.

“Wow sweetness, you are my kind of woman you know that?” He said as he laid her down on the bed making her aware at the strength radiating inside him. He was whipcord strong, she saw the cords in his arms flex as he leaned over her to nibble on her lips. She was trying to figure out the feeling she saw in his eyes but before she could puzzle it out, he was whipping out the silk scarves and tying her hands to either bedpost.

Shocked yet aroused green eyes looked into passionate blue ones as he tightened the scarves to just a degree where they didn’t hurt her but kept her immobile.

As he slid his hands down either side of her, they brushed the under swell of her breasts and the nipples puckered up even more. She felt them aching for a touch, a lick, anything he would give her before the night is through.

Smiling, he tugged at the pointed nipple through her dress. With each tug, she was gasping in delight. As she felt the answering tug deep in her loins, she was soon wishing for something more from him. He slid his palms under the top of her dress. Soon it was yanked down to expose her aching full breasts to his aroused gaze.

He was drowning in need. When he saw those perfect globes with the cherry tipped nipples, Jean-Claude fought the need to bury deep inside her and come hard and fast. The nipples were big and pointed with her excitement, they begged for his touch yet he took his time and made sure to tease her with feather light caresses all over. Soon, he had her whimpering as need raced through them and he could not deny himself a taste any longer.

Raven arched as his lips settled over one nipple while his hand played with her other. Sensations raced through her, passionate and erotic, she closed her eyes to give herself over to his masterful touches. He licked, sucked and tugged at her nipples, alternating between them both. Moaning her body was a withering mass of need and wanting, with her juices soaking her panties, the scent of her passion rising in the air, her control melted like chocolate on a hot burner.

“My god, you are exquisite. I need you so much yet I don’t want to rush anything.” Jean-Claude said as he slid the dress over her hips groaning at the soaked thong she was wearing. He inhaled, the scent of her juices rose into his lungs, filling him with lust and love. With her thigh high stockings and shoes still on, he was aware at how tremulous his control remained. It was almost painful as his erection strained to get free and sink into her hot, wet core. Yet he waited and slowly shrugged his shirt off and tried to calm his raging desire.

BLURB:

A chance meeting at a sweet shop…Can it be love?

When a stranger stops in at her shop, Jenna is surprised by the immediate attraction. Apparently, Marc is too because he wants to get to know Jenna. A whole lot better and won’t take no for an answer.

EXCERPT (PG):

Marc looked down at the small sprite of a woman and felt his body tighten as he recognized the one who he had been looking for. Disbelief warred inside him as Jenna chattered on about different displays, gesturing to another case filled with candy canes stripped in an array of reds, greens, purples and the traditional flavor of peppermint. He never expected to find his mate in the small town his mother told him to go to. If it wasn’t his family pressuring him to finally find her and his mother’s prophecy, he would never have stepped foot in Devon Falls. Looks as if mum was right again in her prophecy Marc thought as he contemplated trying to make his for all time.

“Jenna, she loves candy canes and anything Christmas related.”

Marc smiled at the memory of his mother baking tons of cookies for the holiday festivities and enjoying the sweets that came with the season as well as telling him and his siblings to keep out of the cookie dough.

“Well that narrows it down a little.”

Taking a gift box out, she gestured to the case next to her. “Does she have any allergies to anything, like nuts or peanut butter? I want to make sure I don’t kill a potential customer here. It is bad for business you know.”

Amusement lit her eyes up as she decorated the box with gaily-covered tissue paper.

“Actually no, she doesn’t have allergies to anything so please, pick some things out and make it look really nice.” Marc said. She looked so damn beautiful, looking up at him with those big brown eyes. He couldn’t remember a time when he got this hard this fast all from watching a woman work. Marc closed his eyes and imagined running some of the chocolate kisses on her nipples. Feeling his cock go even harder from his imagination going into hyper drive, he shifted his legs a little to ease the pressure.

Jenna looked up and caught him shifting and noticed a nice size bulge in the front of his pants. Swallowing at the picture of peeling those tight ass pants down his body, Jenna tried to keep her mind on this sale rather than wanting him naked and at her mercy, though if you asked her, it was just hard work trying to not drag him to a supply closet for a quickie.

Meet Rick R. Reed, King of M/M

March 23, 2010 | Friends

Today we have the pleasure of multi-published author RICK R. REED here to share his new release THE BLUE MOON CAFE, an amazing novel you’ll want to read over and over.

A few words from Rick;

Sometimes a book comes along where I completely fall in love with the characters. The Blue Moon Café is just such a book. Not only is it set in my relatively new home town of Seattle (which is a great place for not only a creepy story, but one where new love can blossom and flourish), but Todd, Jared, and Sam became so real to me, I hated to say goodbye to them.

I hope you’ll take the time to check out The Blue Moon Café. It’s the book where I finally succeeded in fusing romance and horror into one page-turning read. I hope you agree!

Blurb:
Someone—or something—is killing Seattle’s gay men.

A creature moves through the darkest night, lit only by the full moon, taking them, one by one, from the rain city’s gay gathering areas.

Someone—or something—is falling in love with Thad Matthews.

Against a backdrop of horror and fear, young Thad finds his first true love in the most unlikely of places—a new Italian restaurant called The Blue Moon Cafe. Sam is everything Thad has ever dreamed of in a man: compassionate, giving, handsome, and with brown eyes Thad feels he could sink into. And Sam can cook! But as the pair’s love begins to grow, so do the questions and uncertainties, the main one being, why do Sam’s unexplained disappearances always coincide with the full moon?

Prepare yourself for a unique blend of dark suspense and erotic romance with The Blue Moon Cafe, written by the author Unzipped magazine called, “the Stephen King of gay horror.” You’re guaranteed an unforgettable reading experience, one that skillfully blends the hottest romance with the most chilling terror…

Excerpt:

Sam leaned back against the headboard and lit a cigarette. The room filled with the acrid stench of burning tobacco and paper and instead of being repelled as he normally would be, Thad moved close to Sam again, taking up his newly claimed spot on the man’s chest. He stared up at him, watching him smoke. Lazily, he traced circles in the hairy mat covering Sam’s chest. His fingers stopped when he caught sight of a design on Sam’s left pectoral, something he had hadn’t noticed in the dim light or perhaps because it was all but hidden by the forest of hair. Thad got up on one elbow.

“You have a tattoo?”

In the dark, Sam nodded. “I’ve had it for years, way before tattoos were all the rage like they are these days.”

“Especially here in Seattle.” Thad often wondered if there was some requirement that all citizens of Seattle must have at least one tattoo. “What’s it of?” Thad strained to make out the design’s contours in the dim light and couldn’t.

Sam leaned forward to switch on the bedside lamp. Thad squinted at the sudden light source, then directed his gaze down at the muscled chest before him. “What is it?” Thad traced the design with his fingers, lowering his head to peer more closely at it. He nipped at Sam’s nipple and Sam laughed.

“It’s Lupa, the she-wolf who suckled Romulus and Remus, the twins who founded Rome in mythology. Cool, no?” Sam flexed his chest so the wolf seemed to move. Two cherubic twin boys below the figure suckled at her teats.

“It’s kind of weird. But it suits you.” Thad reached over Sam to turn off the light again.

“What brought you to America?”

Did Thad detect a slight stiffening when he asked the question?…

Sci-Fi, Fantasy and Romance – Yum

March 15, 2010 | Friends

Spellbinding author Robert Appleton is here today with his new novel THE MYTHMAKERS. The powerful cover was designed by talented artist Kanaxa. I do believe she outdid herself.

Here’s what Rob has to say about himself:
I’m a native of Bolton, England, I write science fiction and paranormal mysteries. 2009 is my second year in the rollercoaster world of e-publishing (hint: don’t look down, except when upside down).

In my previous lives, I served (smuggled) popcorn in a cinema, mis-filed much as a public servant, and walked away with a Film Studies degree. I’ve visited America, Greece, Spain, Scotland and other alien planets.

To date, my publishers include Samhain Publishing, Eternal Press, Lyrical Press, Club Lighthouse Publishing, Uncial Press, and Damnation Books. My ambition is to have an ambition. So far, it’s all with the tide, baby.

You can learn more about Rob on his website or on his BLOG

Warning: This book contains moderate sexual activity, strong language, and high-cholesterol breakfasts. Also features hot nudists, naive men and other equally rare fantasy creatures.

BLURB:
For Captain Steffi Savannah and her crew of deep space smugglers, life has become little more than a dogged exercise in mere survival. Their latest disastrous heist ended with another dead crew member—and no place left to hide. She’s even finding it hard to dredge up any excitement over the giant, crippled ship that appears on their radar, even though it’s the salvage opportunity of a lifetime.

They find that it’s no ordinary alien vessel. It’s a ship of dreams, populated with the last remnants of Earth’s mythical creatures. Including the blond, built, mysterious Arne, one of a race blessed with extraordinary beauty—and few inhibitions. Though he won’t tell her exactly what he is, in his arms Steffi rediscovers something she thought she’d never feel again. Wonder, love…and hope.

It isn’t long, though, before the Royal guard tracks them down, and Steffi and her crew are faced with a terrible decision. Cut and run. Or risk everything to tow the ship and her precious cargo to safety.

EXCERPT:
There had to be easier ways to make a living.

Steffi Savannah loosened her jaw with a gummy roll of her mouth, then shook her head to stay awake. The stars wheeled at a dizzying clip. She ducked lower into her magnetic boots, but her quads ached from crouching. The dark purple flame of her cutting torch ballooned and dripped behind the tinted welding shield in her hand. It was taking too damn long. She’d guessed at five minutes to cut the metal debris loose—fifteen minutes ago. Bright molten shards spiralled away into space as the Albatross rifled through nothingness on her way to nowhere. “Come on, you bitch,” she urged.

The two chasing ships were gaining. Once mere pinpricks of light against the dull grey cloud whirls of planet October, they now had necks and glassy beaks and shiny metal wings that reflected the suns’ amber. And an arsenal of major firepower ready to annihilate the Albatross.

“How’s it coming, Cap?” Bo Lineker’s snappy boyish voice redoubled her grit.

“Nearly there,” she replied. “Don’t wait for me. Get inside if you’re done.”

“You don’t want a hand?”

“No. I’m almost through.”

“I could—”

“Get below. Tell McKendrick to light the candle as soon as I close the hatch behind me.”

“Aye.”

The weight of resignation in his parting syllable tumbled and echoed deep inside her. She’d always hated being alone outside. Having a man to keep her company, one who’d do anything for her even though she didn’t love him in the least, was a safety cord no rig could best. She looked round but he’d gone. The unique brass hull had been sleek once. Now it was dented and greening and it barely reflected starlight anymore. Laser scarring and rivulet depressions where the seams had started to buckle groaned with old age.

Steffi shot a breath from her nostrils and gripped the cutter’s blunt handle. It rocked and rolled as the mangled wreckage lifted toward her. Dammit. She had to let go of the torch to duck. McKendrick had punched the throttle early, as soon as the ship’s rolling had stopped. Tons of twisted metal almost took Steffi’s head off as the Albatross gathered speed. Ducking backward, she lay flat on the hull. Only her knees pointed up, as her magnetic boots were still clamped. The wreckage lifted like a silver crown of thorns away, ahead of her into space. She hoped like hell the bastards would fly into it.

A large blue glove gripped her arm.

“Bo! I thought I told—”

“Sorry. Was worried about you, Cap.”

She climbed up his arm and shoulder and shook her head. “Of all the dumb goddamn…I told you to tell McKendrick to wait ’til I was inside.” She gave him her hardest shove. It made him blink. “I came this close to being ripped in half,” she added, demonstrating the distance between her forefinger and thumb. “Now get your dumb hulk ass below and help Flyte with the Psammeticum coils.”

“Soon as you’re inside, Cap.”

She wanted to hug him for being a loyal puppy, but he needed to learn what an order meant. Bo adored her. He’d often said so in bed. And a part of her was very fond of him—the sex and the sweet talk had brightened up many a dull evening—but no more than that. She knew it was pity more than love that kept her close to him. Pity for his dumb, harmless nature; for him being an orphan with no hope of anything but a mining or muscle job; and for him not minding being used for sex whenever she wanted it.

But this time, his mindless devotion had gone too far.

BITE ME

March 11, 2010 | Friends

Vampires were never my thing until Jan Springer told me about her soon to be released novel SWEET HEAT. After reading the excerpt and fantasizing over the cover, I’m hooked! I think you will be too.

Coming March 24, 2010

SWEET HEAT
Book One in the Vampira series
Jan Springer
Ellora’s Cave

BLURB:
Running from an arranged marriage, Julia Sandalwood hides within Vampira, a secret clique of female vampires who live among humans and have sworn off sex with males.

Julia thought she was safe, that is, until scorching dreams leave her craving every hot pulsing inch of the twin vamps newly hired at the factory she owns. Every night they set her fangs on fire, sandwiching her between their strong naked bodies, whisking her into a world of forbidden ecstasy.

Caleb and Zander Davenport have always shared a magnificent brotherly bond, which includes the need to share their females. Lately, they’ve been hungering for Julia, and plan on seducing her out of her dreams and into their arms.

EXCERPT:
Leaning over, she slid the box in front of her and lifted the lid.

And froze.

Inside the box lay a life-sized chocolate cock, complete with an intricate weave of veins and plum shaped cockhead. It had to be at least ten inches long with a three inch girth. She certainly couldn’t miss the two puncture wounds halfway up the shaft.

Vampire bites.

She drew in a deep steadying breath. Spicy musk scent poured off him and mingled with the dark chocolate, wrapping around her like a seductive glove. Her fangs throbbed with intense excitement. Her body tensed harder in raw awareness.

“What do you think, Julie?” he asked with a low growl lacing his otherwise soft voice.

“It’s getting late,” she found herself whispering, finding it quite difficult to keep her eyes off the giant cock.

She could barely breathe. Could barely keep herself under control.

“Perhaps you should try it? See what you think?”

Try it? Why did she think he meant more than just licking it and sucking it and taking it down her throat?

“I’m late for an appointment.”

“A date?” Was that anger lacing his voice? Annoyance blazing in his eyes? Did he think he had a claim on her? Now that thought certainly made her pussy cream warmer.

A sheen of perspiration blossomed across her forehead. She needed to get away from him. Needed to collect her thoughts. Her composure.

Surely he could smell her arousal because she could.

He stared at her, knowing amusement flashing over his face.

Yep, she definitely needed to get away from him and stay away from these hot males.

With trembling hands she replaced the lid on the box, concealing the delectable contents.

He stood.

“Okay, I’ll let you go.” He paused and then said, “This time.”

This time?

He headed for the door, all six feet three inches of jam-packed muscled vampire male.

Oh she wanted him. Wanted him so bad, she almost called out.

At the door he stopped and turned around.

She stopped breathing as he spoke.

“Let us know if that size works for you.”

Sweet vampires!

Julie frowned as he closed the door behind him. Lifting the lid off the box, she gazed at the chocolate cock realizing what he meant by that remark.

A Sneak Peek from the Queen

March 10, 2010 | Friends

Jan Springer is here today with a short preview of her new book, NICE GIRL NAUGHTY, that will release later this year. In true Springer style, Jan has created another masterpiece.

NICE GIRL NAUGHTY
Jan Springer
Ellora’s Cave

BLURB:

Someone is murdering red-haired female artists and Summer Colby is smack in the killer’s crosshairs. Blind since nineteen, Summer is a famous erotic wood carver. When she barely escapes an attempt on her life, family friend and professional bodyguard Nick Cassidy vows to keep her safe.

Hiding together in a secluded wilderness cabin, she’s captivated by Nick’s thick, powerful muscles, firm abs and those hard, yummy male body parts. It doesn’t take long before he’s making love to her up against the bedroom wall and she’s going down on him on her wood carving table.

Nick Cassidy has been working overseas. He hasn’t seen Summer for ten years, since shortly after the accident that left her blind and she told him she didn’t love him. Their sexual attraction is stronger than ever and he discovers she’s still the same passionate woman sizzling with untapped sexual energy he left behind. Sweeping his gorgeous redhead into the erotic filled sex fest they’ve waited for years to experience, Nick realizes their hideout isn’t safe – until it’s too late.

EXCERPT:
(unedited)

“Hello? Is anyone there?” Summer called out as she heard the nearby alcove door of her California Carmel-by-the-Sea art gallery creak open. She turned to face the soft sound of the footsteps padding into the room where she’d been setting up her newest exhibit of erotic woodcarving.

“Hello? We don’t open until Monday morning,” she called to the intruder. Her assistant, Mary, had left only a few minutes ago to grab them a late night snack so they could finish up tonight and take tomorrow off to do some shopping for more supplies for her next batch of art.

Whoever had entered, it wasn’t Mary because the elderly lady walked briskly, like she meant business. Whoever was there, didn’t respond, but she could hear someone breathing somewhere to her left. Could actually feel her skin crawl as someone watched her. Uneasiness lashed her and she suddenly wished for her assistant to be back here.
Gosh, she hadn’t realized how dependant she was on Mary. Ever since the elderly woman had come into Summer’s life several months earlier, she’d been her eyes, describing the quaint European story book cottages lining the town streets they shopped at or explaining how the blue-green ocean interacted with the rocky coastline when Mary drove Summer to and from her art gallery.
“Hello?” she called out again, getting really nervous at the person’s rudeness for not answering her.

Ever since the accident ten years ago that claimed her vision she’d learned not to jump at every little sound. Freaking out would only riddle her with unwanted anxiety. She focused on using her other senses. Her ears could pick up sounds a normal seeing person couldn’t hear and her nostrils were definitely picking up the sharp scent of aftershave.
Okay. So it was a man and he possessed a dark dangerous scent she’d never smelled before. Despite not wanting to be, she suddenly felt frightened.

“Are you lost? My assistant can help you.” Despite her fear she managed to keep her voice surprisingly calm.
Reaching for the pager she kept strapped in a waist holster, she found herself fumbling with the tight clasp. As it snapped open and her hand touched the plastic pager the man’s harsh voice stopped her cold.

“I wouldn’t do that if I were you, Ms. Colby.”

She froze. Whether it was, because of the heavy way he was breathing or because of his thick, sharp, commanding voice, instincts told her this guy meant her harm.
Fear zipped up a few notches and for a brief instant she couldn’t think of what to do, let alone which way to move.

“I’ve wanted you for too long, Summer,” the man whispered hoarsely. His breathing was getting heavier, quicker. She sensed him drawing closer. Moving very slowly. Like the cat getting ready to pounce on the blind mole.

Oh frig. He definitely meant to hurt her.

Now this is a book I definitely want to read! We’ll be sure to keep you posted on the release date for NICE GIRL NAUGHTY.

I’ll be back tomorrow with more on Jan Springer. Until then…

Happy Writing!
